IN THE DEEP HEART'S CORE
This Thursday 18th July 2019
Yeats Building Sligo
This lecture-demonstration concert is based on Joseph Sobol's musical theatre piece, "In the Deep Heart's Core: A Mystic Cabaret." The author tells of the creative process whereby the poems became songs and the songs were then stitched into a theatrical fabric of stories and pieces from Yeats's autobiographies and essays to illuminate the place of the poetry in Yeats's own active and contemplative life, the life of the Irish nation, and the life of the world. With local fiddle player Ray Coen.
"An extraordinarily rich and beautiful evocation of the genius of Yeats and of his beloved Ireland."
James Flannery, Emory University; Director, Yeats nternational Theatre Festival
